Wednesday, October 28, 2015
KLT received the award for its leadership and demonstrated commitment to community priorities for conservation, as exemplified by the preservation and opening of the East Kent Hamlet Nature Preserve, formerly the Girl Scouts' Camp Francis.
At the opening dinner of the conference, KLT Director Alice Hicks thanked the hundreds of volunteers who contribute time, energy and expertise to KLT's activities, and shared her pride in the town of Kent for its commitment to land conservation. "At the heart of this achievement", she said, "is simply the love of place."
"The Kent Land Trust serves a community passionate about the natural beauty, wildlife, and unspoiled land and water of northwest Connecticut" said KLT President Bill Arnold. "We are honored to receive this recognition and inspired to continue to safeguard Kent's treasures."
