One of Sharon Land Trust's Twin Oaks Felled by Sandy
Thursday, November 8, 2012
The Lakeville Journal covered the loss of this iconic tree on Sharon Land Trust's property in an artice which can be read here in full with a paid subscription. Fair Use excerpt:
"SHARON — One of the most famous and treasured views in the Northwest Corner was permanently altered this week, when Superstorm Sandy took down one of the two stately old trees referred to as the Twin Oaks.
The twisted remains of the shattered oak tree remain, for now, in the field that can be seen from what are known as “the flats” on Route 41 at the Sharon/Salisbury border."
The trees and the land around them have been owned by the Sharon Land Trust since a well-publicized battle to protect the view in 1997.
